Per Mertesacker says the signing of Petr Cech will bring “that special [something] extra” to Arsenal.
The goalkeeper joined the club at the end of June and has integrated into the first-team squad during the tour of Singapore.
Mertesacker is looking forward to working alongside his new taem-mate and says Cech is a “great signing”.
"He communicates quite well, speaks a lot of languages - even a bit of German - so he gets along with everyone"
“I thought that was a good signing for our team,” the German told Arsenal Player.
“He’s an experienced goalkeeper who proved that he is a really good ‘keeper and won a lot of titles with Chelsea.
“I think it’s a great signing for us and from day one, when I first met him, you had that feeling that he has a certain presence.
“He communicates quite well, speaks a lot of languages - even a bit of German - so he gets along with everyone and that’s good for us, so he can add that special [something] extra we are missing.
“I think he will save some difficult balls. That’s why he joined - he needs to regain his confidence by playing for us and I think that’s the most important thing for him.
“Overall he’s played a lot of games in the Premier League already. He will add a few games and we will see him at his best.”
