Mathieu Debuchy is determined to have a good pre-season after a stop-start debut campaign for Arsenal.

The France defender only played 11 times for the Gunners in 2014/15, spending seven months on the sidelines through injury.

However, Debuchy has since returned to full fitness and is ready to make an impact on his first pre-season tour with Arsenal.

"It was a hard year last year and I need to do some hard training to be fit for the first game"

“I’m so excited to go to Singapore and work hard with the team,” the 29-year-old told Arsenal Player. “I’ve never been before, it’s my first time.

“I need to have a good pre-season,” he added. “It was a hard year last year and I need to do some hard training to be fit for the first game.

“It’s also important for us to play Premier League teams like Stoke City and Everton because in one month we will play in the Premier League and we need to be ready.”

Debuchy will be joined by Petr Cech in Singapore and the defender believes Arsenal’s newest signing can help their Premier League challenge.

“Petr is a very good keeper with massive experience,” Debuchy said. “He has a lot of quality and is a complete goalkeeper.

“I think [Arsenal can challenge for the Premier League] and I hope so too. We have all the chance to win the Premier League.”
