Julio Pleguezuelo is delighted to score his first goal for Arsenal Under-21s.
The Spanish defender rose highest to power home a header after Serge Gnabry’s free-kick had been flicked onto the crossbar in the Gunners’ 4-0 win against Wolves on Monday.
Pleguezuelo has struggled with injuries but after returning to full fitness recently he is determined to make up for lost time during pre-season.
"I’m going to work hard during pre-season, non-stop and there will be no holidays for me"
“I’ve had a tough season so to finish it with a goal is good,” the 18-year-old told Arsenal.com “I’m happy that the team won the game as well.
“I had my family here watching so I’m very happy that they could see the goal. It’s always great to show them what you can do.
“I’m not the tallest centre back so I have to work on my jumping,” he added. “That is always what I’m doing in training and I think I’m improving a lot. Hopefully I can keep improving that over the summer.
“I’m going to work hard during pre-season, non-stop and there will be no holidays for me. I’m going to have a very good season next year and it would obviously be great to get some minutes for the first team or at least get the chance to be involved with them in training, because I’ve not trained with them since my injury.”
