Monreal - I was so pleased with my goal

Nacho Monreal has revealed his delight at scoring his second goal for the club as Arsenal beat Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The Spain defender had not been on target for the Gunners since March 2013, but finished clinically to give Arsene Wenger’s side the lead at Old Trafford.

Danny Welbeck also struck against his former club to secure Arsenal’s place in the semi-finals, and Monreal is delighted to be heading to Wembley again.

“I’m very happy to play and secondly because I could score and help the team win,” he told Arsenal Player. “I am a player who doesn’t score too many goals so when I do I’m very happy.

“I didn’t have time to think because David de Gea came out very quickly. I controlled it well and I saw the space and tried to put the ball there. I’m very happy because I finished the goal.

“We are now on the way to repeat that and we want to win the FA Cup again. We have the semi-final at Wembley which is a great stadium, so we are very happy with the victory.

“We have to keep going in the same dynamic and we only have 10 games left before we finish the season. We are playing in three different competitions and we want to win all of them. We have to keep going.”
