Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Wojciech Szczesny will start Sunday’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Middlesbrough.
The Poland goalkeeper played all but one of Arsenal’s Premier League games last season but has not featured since January’s fourth-round victory at Brighton & Hove Albion.
David Ospina's fine form has kept Szczesny out of the side but Wenger says he's ready to return.
“[He has responded] very well,” the manager said. “He’s very good in training. He responded in a very determined and focused way.
“He’s ready to play. At the moment I feel I left Ospina in because he has done well but Wojciech is completely ready and has impressed in training.
"The competition is open," added Wenger. "At the moment Ospina [has] played and we’ll see in the future.”
