Loan Watch: Afobe scores in record win

Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2014/15 campaign now underway, nine Gunners are currently away from the club.

Jon Toral played the second half of Brentford’s 3-2 victory at Cardiff. Alex Pritchard, Andre Gray and Jota Peleteiro gave Brentford a three-goal cushion going into the break. Craig Noone and Kenwyne Jones pulled two back for the hosts but Brentford held out for their seventh win in their last eight games.

Benik Afobe played the final 22 minutes and scored in MK Dons’ 7-0 win against Oldham. The Dons took the lead through Dean Bowditch and a brace from Will Grigg before Darren Potter, Dele Alli, Afobe and Carl Baker struck to complete the rout.

Ryo Miyaichi was an unused substitute in Twente’s 3-2 win against Willem. Youness Mokhtar gave the hosts the lead before Ali Messaoud equalised. Robbie Haemhouts then put Willem in front but Andreas Bjelland and Torgeir Borven struck in the second and fourth minutes of stoppage time to give Twente all three points.

Austin Lipman played the final 12 minutes of Boreham Wood’s 4-1 defeat at Eastbourne Borough. Darren Lok struck twice and Simon Johnson gave the hosts a three-goal lead before half-time. Matt Winchelow pulled one back after the break but Nathaniel Pinney scored in the 90th minute to secure the win.

Josh Vickers played the full 90 minutes of Concord Rangers’ 3-1 defeat at Bishop’s Stortford. Sheldon Sellears, Adam Church and James Walker were on target for the home side while Tony Stokes scored in the final minute for Rangers.
