'Podolski will get his opportunities'

Arsene Wenger says Lukas Podolski will get his opportunities after the forward impressed against Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Podolski scored twice and hit the crossbar in Arsenal's final Champions League group game - his second start this season.

All six of the Germany international’s Premier League appearances have come off the bench, but Wenger feels Podolski has staked his claim for a starting place against Newcastle United on Saturday.

"Up front we have all the players available so I can rotate a little bit game by game"

“He’s getting back into good form and there’s a lot of competition up front,” Wenger said.

“We have injuries in midfield and at the back but up front we have all the players available so I can rotate a little bit game by game. He will get his opportunities.

“I can understand the frustrations of the players who are top quality and don’t play. But as well that is part of the job.

“You always have to be ready when you can help the team and the club. I cannot play all of the forwards so I have to make decisions.”
