Benik Afobe played a starring role in MK Dons' impressive victory over Manchester United in the second round of the Capital One Cup. Afobe replaced two-goal Will Grigg midway through the second half and had to wait just two minutes before adding his name to the scoresheet, clinically slotting past David De Gea. The striker added further gloss to the result in the closing stages, bulldozing his way through the visitors' defence before crashing home a left-footed effort.

Sutton United 1-3 Boreham Wood

Austin Lipman came off the bench and scored to help Boreham Wood beat Sutton United. The forward came on with 15 minutes to play and helped the visitors to overturn a one-goal deficit, putting Wood in front in the 93rd minute after Josh Hill had levelled the scores. Lee Angol secured victory with virtually the last kick of the game.

Brentford 0-1 Fulham

Jon Toral made his Brentford debut in this Capital One Cup defeat at home to Fulham. The midfielder started and played 63 minutes before being replaced by Toumani Diagouraga. Ross McCormark scored the game's only goal after 68 minutes.
