Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2013/14 campaign now over, we round up the progress of the 15 Gunners who spent time away from the club.

Crewe Alexandra
Chuks enjoyed an excellent second season on loan at Crewe Alexandra. The young midfielder netted 16 goals in 44 appearances for the Railwaymen which helped them narrowly avoid relegation to League Two.

Olympiacos
Joel's season with the Greek champions got off to a slow start as he was restricted to late appearances from the bench. But the Costa Rican soon found his stride and netted a brace in a 6-0 win against Veria in October. The forward went on to score 11 times for Olympiacos as they strolled to another title but the highlight of his campaign was scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win over Manchester United in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Hamburg
Johan suffered another injury-disrupted campaign but still made 26 appearances for Bundesliga strugglers Hamburg. Mirko Slomka's side made a positive start to the season but their form deteriorated dramatically after the turn of the year, leaving them just a point off the relegation places.

Leicester City
Ignasi made 12 appearances for Leicester in his first loan spell away from the club. The defender made seven starts in the Championship and played in all of the Foxes' Capital One Cup games, scoring in the 4-3 win over Fulham in October. But the Spaniard couldn't force his way into the side in the second half of the season as Nigel Pearson's side secured the title and promotion to the Premier League.

Sheffield Wednesday
Damian joined Sheffield Wednesday in January and managed 14 appearances for the Championship side. The highlight of the Argentine's spell with the Yorkshire club was keeping a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over promotion-chasing QPR.

Canvey Island
Josh played 36 times for Canvey Island as the Essex side finished 13th in the Ryman Premier League. The goalkeeper was allowed to return to Arsenal for their Youth Cup campaign, where he produced a string of fine performances on their run to the last four.

Freiburg
Francis endured a injury-disrupted season at Freiburg and was restricted to 24 appearances for the German side. The high point of the French midfielder's campaign came when he scored in Freiburg's 2-1 win over Slovan Liberec in the Europa League.

Watford
Hector's short spell at Watford got off to a good start under Gianfranco Zola but his chances were restricted when new manager Giuseppe Sannino arrived. The highlight of the young Spaniard's time with the Hornets came in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Leeds when his mazy run and cross set up Cristian Battocchio to score.

Wellington made 34 appearances but was restricted to just 11 starts for Real Murcia. The young forward scored twice for the Spanish side as they made a late push for a play-off place but just missed out due to their head-to-head record against sixth-place Cordoba.

Hibernian
Young defender Daniel made three appearances for Hibernian as they were relegated to the Scottish Championship.
