Mesut Ozil was this week unveiled as an ambassador for the Big Shoe initiative, which uses the FIFA World Cup as inspiration to fund operations for young people around the world.
With the World Cup just a month away, the Germany international has pledged to fund 11 operations in a hospital in Coroata, in the north-west of Brazil this summer.
The Big Shoe initiative was launched in 2006, ahead of the World Cup in Germany. The charity aims to fund a minimum of 100 operations in Brazil during this year’s tournament.
