Saul Berjon and Gai Assulin exchanged first-half strikes before two goals in three minutes put the visitors in command. And they held on, despite former Chelsea midfielder Enrique de Lucas reducing the arrears in the 89th minute.

Mario Gotze's brace, plus a further strike from Thomas Muller, gave the visitors a three-goal advantage. Hakan Calhanoglu reduced the deficit but Claudio Pizarro made sure of Bayern's victory with an acrobatic late strike.
