Flamini - It was vital to restore pride

13/14: Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City - Mathieu Flamini

Mathieu Flamini says it was important to restore pride against Manchester City after a difficult week for the team.

The French midfielder swept home Arsenal's equaliser against Manuel Pellegrini's side after David Silva had given the visitors an early lead.

Flamini was delighted to score his first goal at Emirates Stadium since his return to the club and thinks Arsenal can take heart from their performance.

"We wanted to win of course but we tried until the last minute and we were unlucky"

"It was important for every single player in this team because it was difficult after what happened at Chelsea," said Flamini. "We wanted to find a victory but it was important to find something from the game.

"It's a great feeling and it gave us the possibility to come back in the game. We were looking to score another one to win the game but we'll take the point.

"We wanted to win of course but we tried until the last minute and we were unlucky. Now we have to rest and focus on the next game. It's very difficult now but we have to take it game by game."
