Gibbs - Character can lead us to success

Kieran Gibbs believes Arsenal's character will lead Arsenal to success during the final stretch of the season.

The Gunners had to dig deep to grind out a crucial 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday which has put them right back in title contention.

Gibbs admits Arsenal weren't at their fluent best at White Hart Lane, but praised the resilience shown by the team after Tomas Rosicky's early goal.

"We've had to work really hard and we soaked up a lot of good pressure"

"We have played a lot better and they dominated for some spells,” he told Arsenal Player. "We have to take it as a positive that we scored early. You have seen in the past that we can concede after scoring but here we were fantastic.

"We know that in some games we're going to dominate for the 90 minutes and some games we're not. It was a good test to come here, especially in a derby as well when you know the performance isn't just what you need - it's the result as well.

"I think we all know what we're capable of. But a lot of the time we're questioned for our character. I think today we've proved people wrong and now that's finished we have many big games left in the season and we have to show that character again and again. That's what will lead us to success.

"We've had to work really hard and we soaked up a lot of good pressure. We got the goal and in the end won convincingly."
