Arsene Wenger believes David Moyes will be a success when he takes over as Manchester United manager this summer.
The Everton boss has been appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor after the 71-year-old announced his decision to retire.
Moyes may have big shoes to fill, but Wenger says he can hit the ground running when he takes over at Old Trafford on July 1.
“It looks like an intelligent appointment because he knows the Premier League well,” he said. “It looks as well that it’s a long-term appointment, that story has been done for a long time.
“But it makes sense. Of course it’s a step up for David Moyes now because the demands will be huge when you follow a guy like Ferguson.
“But he looks like he can fill in with quality, competence and has the experience and knows all the Premier League players.”
