'Curious' Ozil targets self-improvement

Mesut Ozil has emerged from a whirlwind two weeks and is excited and "curious" about his new challenge at Arsenal.

The 24-year-old completed his move from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day but only arrived in England after fulfilling international commitments with Germany this week.

Ozil trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Thursday and then held a joint press conference with Arsene Wenger, where he outlined his early impressions of Arsenal.

"It has been very interesting," said Ozil.

"I could not think a lot about Arsenal [at first], because I had to focus on the German national team, but of course I talked to Mertesacker and Podolski about Arsenal, I asked them how the Club is and how the people are here.

"Of course I am curious. this is something very new for me. I have only heard positive things and know myself how this club is.

"It is a very familiar [well-known] club, a very successful club with very young players, and the young players develop very well here. This was one of the reasons why I chose to come here, I want to continue to improve myself.

"I am really happy to be here under such a great manager."
