Henrikh Mkhitaryan made his return from injury on Monday night during our Under-23s' Premier League 2 match against West Ham United.
Our No 7 looked sharp in possession and guided Freddie Ljungberg’s side to a 3-0 half-time lead before adverse weather conditions at Meadow Park forced the referee to abandon the fixture at the break.
We spoke to Mkhitaryan after his comeback - and this is what he said:
on how he felt...
After a while, I came back. I started playing with the under-23s and I'm very happy. I hope that I won't have any more injuries and I will keep playing.
on how helpful all the staff have been...
I'm thankful to everyone who has been working with me. To the medical staff, to the fitness coach and everyone, even to my team-mates. They were supporting me every day. It's life, everything is happening and you can get injured or something like that. I hope that no one gets injured any more and the team can be fully fit for the next games.
on the performance tonight...
Unfortunately, we didn't end up finishing the game. The game was called off but it was a great first half. I think we did very well. We could improve in some aspects but we scored three goals, were playing very good football and could've scored more.
on whether he's ever played in a game that's been called off at half-time...
Never!
