Micki - Ramsey is a symbol of this club

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been singing the praises Aaron Ramsey, describing him as "a symbol of the club".

The Armenian international is enjoying his first pre-season with the club, whereas Ramsey is about to embark on his 11th, but Micki believes his team-mate offers so much more to the side than just his experience.

"His work rate is very, very high and everyone appreciates what he does on the pitch and off it, because he’s a true professional," Mkhitaryan said.

"Of course it’s very easy to play next to him because he tries to be everywhere to help the team - to score goals, to assist, to tackle, recover balls – and that’s why I’m going to be very happy if he stays at the club.

"I think he’s been with the club for 10 years already and it seems that he became a symbol for this club. I will be very happy for him if he signs a new contract because he’s in the history of Arsenal already and I hope he can become a legend for Arsenal after a few more years."

Mkhitaryan signed from Manchester United in January and formed an exciting frontline with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette in front of Mesut Ozil and Ramsey. It's a combination that the Armenian believes can continue to prosper this term.

"Starting from January, when we all started playing alongside each other, we all enjoyed our football," he said. "Now we’re looking forward to the new season to playing alongside each other because it’s fun and we’re getting pleasure from our football."
