Martinelli – I’m thrilled to have signed new deal

It’s almost exactly a year to the day since Gabriel Martinelli joined us - and he has already put pen to paper on a new long-term contract.

So what is the young Brazilian’s reaction to committing his future to the club?

 

“I’m thrilled,” Martinelli told Arsenal Digital. “I’d like to thank my family and God for giving me this opportunity, as well as all the staff at Arsenal and the fans, who have always got behind me and since my recent injury,  I've received so many messages of support from them, which has been wonderful for me.

“I’m so pleased to have extended my contract, so now I'm focused on recovering well from this injury and coming back as strong and as soon as possible.

 

“It's funny that I signed my first contract here exactly a year ago and this year I've signed my extension. I'm very pleased about that and it's hard to put into words what it means. I just have to be thankful.

 

“Before signing for Arsenal, when I found out the club was interested, I didn't think twice. I wanted to live in London, England, so when I found out the club wanted me to help the team, I had no doubts because it's one of the best clubs in the world, the fans are incredible and there's so much history as well, so I didn't think twice before signing.”
