Martin-Obi scores in quarter-final win

Chido Martin-Obi scored the equalising goal in Wednesday’s UEFA U17 European Championship quarter-final with Czechia.

Denmark went 1-0 down after Ondrej Penxa’s opener in the 71st minute, but Martin-Obi pulled one back with nine minutes to go.

He then scored Denmark’s third goal in the penalty shootout, which they went on to win 5-3 to set up a semi-final on Sunday, June 2 against the winner of Italy v England.

“It feels very good, I am very happy we are in the semi-finals," Chido said. "I was full of confidence [for the goal]. We have a big chance [against England or Italy]."

Arsenal teammate Ethan Nwaneri is also still in the competition with England in the quarter-finals at 6.30pm BST on Thursday, May 30.
