Jonas proud of more Conti Cup success

Jonas Eidevall got his hands on the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup trophy for the second season in a row on Sunday, and he couldn’t be more proud of his team in our 1-0 win over Chelsea.

“I’m very proud, happy and a little bit tired because it’s obviously a taxing game,” he said after the match.

“We were a high performing team in a tough situation. It’s an even game. We learned a lot last time we played them and I think we prepared for a lot of situations with players that really understood the game plan to take a lot of responsibility and accountability on the pitch. I think it was almost like a complete team performance.

“To work with a group of players and staff like this but also the fans and being a part of that is a huge privilege.”

Gooners were in full voice throughout all 120 minutes at Molineux Stadium, and Jonas was full of praise for the Arsenal supporters who made the trip to Wolverhampton on Easter Sunday.

“They’re such a big part of what we’re building at this football club,” he said. “It was a big part of the motivation today, to reward them for all of the hard work, passion, loyalty and support and give them silverware. They deserve that and I hope they’re happy with it and can celebrate it with us.”

Jonas also revealed that one of the chefs who works at Sobha Realty Training Centre, Sue, who was spotted celebrating on the pitch at full-time, recently recorded a good luck video for the squad.

“It was great and showed her going out of her comfort zone, showing bravery and we spoke about that as a team because that’s what it’s going to require,” he said. “It’s not possible to get success if you’re not willing to have risk and that’s exactly what it’s like. When you play you need to do that, so I thought it was really inspirational and that’s a special thing.

“There are so many people at London Colney that play a part in this here and should really feel that they’re contributing to it. To everyone, feel proud of this here. You played a part in it.”
