Tyreece John-Jules bagged a brace in the first match of pre-season as an Arsenal XI produced a fine comeback to draw 3-3 with Boreham Wood on Saturday.

It was a disappointing first half as the National League side took a 3-1 lead into half-time - but our youngsters clawed back the deficit in impressive fashion.

We spoke to the John-Jules after the match and this is what he said:

on scoring twice…

It was a good experience to get back on the pitch, I’ve missed playing for Arsenal out there and it was all about getting fitness and recovery today and I was delighted to get two goals.

on keeping himself fit during the off-season…

I did a lot of running in the park by myself and I went to the gym and did one-on-one sessions with a specialist and I think it’s helped me a lot to get back into shape.

on Steve Bould’s words at half-time…

He wasn’t too bothered with the performance, he was more worried about getting our match fitness and sharpness ready for the start of the season. The result wasn’t really the issue today just about getting match fit.

on what his targets are for the season…

Stay injury free and keep my fitness up and hopefully get a chance in the first team, and if I do, take it. Hopefully I can make my competitive debut this season and be a strong part of the under-23s team and then kick on.
