Steph Catley was well aware of Vivianne Miedema's goal record before joining us in July.
The Australia full back had played against our leading Women's Super League scorer in the 2017 Algarve Cup and last year's international friendly between the two countries.
But not even that could prepare Catley for what she saw during her first few training sessions in north London.
"I think I expected the goals from Viv because from day one in training she hits them with her eyes closed and they go top corner," she said. "I've never seen anything like it.
"Jill's been a bit of a surprise package. I knew she was class and I've played against her when she was playing for the Netherlands, so I know how good she is.
"The goals she's been scoring, the things she's been creating on the field, have been absolutely incredible. She's not the only one because there are goals coming from everywhere in our team, which is so exciting.
"There's been a couple of goals conceded in there as well, so it's not perfect and I think Joe would probably say the same because he's never seen a perfect game, but things are definitely clicking really well and the team is full of so many good players. Even our bench, you look to it and they could all be starting for any team in the league on any given day. It's just exciting to think what we could achieve this year."
