We had two stars in action for their countries on Thursday evening. Scroll down to find out how they fared.
Danny Welbeck came off the bench to score in England’s 2-0 friendly win over Costa Rica. Marcus Rashford gave Gareth Southgate’s side the perfect start, smashing an unstoppable strike past Keylor Navas to give the hosts the lead.
Joel Campbell, starting for Costa Rica, then threatened either side of half-time but each of his attempts were well charged down by England defenders.
Welbeck replaced Jamie Vardy on the hour mark and made an impact just eight minutes later. Dele Alli carried the ball into Costa Rica’s box and picked out our striker at the far post, who headed in off the post to score his 16th international goal on his 39th England cap.
We could have another four players in action on Friday night, when Granit Xhaka and Stephan Lichtsteiner’s Switzerland face Takuma Asano’s Japan, before Mesut Ozil’s Germany take on Saudi Arabia.
