Vivianne Miedema was glad to have made her first start for us in our 1-1 draw against Bristol City and was caught off guard by the quality of football played in England.
Having come off the bench against Manchester City a week beforehand, Miedema was granted a starting berth by Pedro Martinez Losa against the Vixens, and following the game, the striker spoke with Arsenal.com.
on the performance…
I think it was a hard game for us, especially the first half. In the second half we put more pressure on Bristol, but it wasn’t good enough again and we have to keep working and see how it is next week.
on making her first start for the club…
I felt good, I’ve been injured, I’m not 100% fit yet but I’m on the way back. I was happy to start today and happy to be back on the pitch, but I think I need some time as well.
on London Bees…
Obviously I don’t know them too well, but it’s another game that we need to win and we want to do good in the cup, in both cups this year so we need to win the game, that’s how easy it is and we just need to show them how good we can actually play.
on the way Bristol fought…
I guess it’s English football, it’s been like that in the last two games as well. I like the way we play and we just need to do that as a team.
on being used to this type of football…
I’m used to Germany, so it’s quite similar I guess. I am actually really surprised by the level here in England - I think it’s really good and I hope it’s going to improve and get better as well because it’s better for all the players.
