Holding – My highlights of our time in Singapore

We brought the curtain down on our Singapore tour with an encouraging 5-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

Rob Holding powered home our fourth of the night and after the game he spoke to Arsenal Media to reflect on a week of hard work, humidity and team spirit. Here’s what he had to say:

on Singapore…

It’s been a tough week with the heat. The humidity at training just seems so intense because of the heat and it’s been tough. We’ve got through it though and finished off with a nice result tonight.

on the win…

Tonight was a great win. They had quite a young team so we can’t look too much into it. We’ve still got to keep working hard at the training ground, but it’s nice to finish the week with a big win. We’ll enjoy our last night now, get ready to come home and then start again on Monday.

on his personal highlight…

Scoring tonight. That’s probably the highlight! We’ve had loads of highlights like the singing at the dinner, that was good fun, but scoring my first of the season is a nice way to sign off.

on how the team is gelling in pre-season…

I think the team spirit among the lads is top. Everyone’s on the same page and really pushing towards what the boss wants and what he’s bringing in tactically. We’re all pushing forwards towards what he wants to do this season.

on our fitness and sharpness…

I don’t know, it’s a better question for the fitness coaches because they’ll know where we’re at! I feel good. I played 60 minutes two days ago and then 30 minutes tonight and I felt fine. I felt like I could’ve gone on and finished the 90 when I played 60 minutes, so I’m feeling fit, healthy and ready to go.
