‘English sides have a special power and fight’

Katrine Veje

We’ll be seeing a new face in the New Year at Arsenal Women.

Joe Montemurro made his first signing of 2019 on Wednesday, bringing in Katrine Veje from Montepellier.

A left-footed winger also capable of playing at full back, the Denmark international has already lifted nine major titles in her career and cannot wait to get started in north London.

“Arsenal is a big club,” Veje told Arsenal Player. “Everyone knows the men’s team and now the women’s team are doing very well. I played against Arsenal in the Toulouse Cup with Montpellier and I really like the style of play and how they move for each other and the group, so I’m very happy to be here.

“English sides are very good. They have a special power and fight for each other, and I like that style of play. I’m very happy that I can understand everything now because it’s in English, so it’s pretty easy for me to get into the group and have conversations with the staff and so on, so I’m very happy to be in Arsenal.

“I heard a lot of good things about Joe and I’ve had a short conversation with him to just chat and I really like him. When I was in Seattle people were talking about him too because a lot of players go to Australia in the off season to play there, so I’m very happy to be here and have Joe as a coach.”
