Van de Donk

Danielle van de Donk has joined Division 1 Feminine side Lyon on a permanent move, following the completion of her contract at Arsenal.

Danielle joined us from Swedish side Goteborg in November 2015 and went on to set the all-time appearance record for an overseas player by featuring 142 times in five-and-a-half years with us.

In fact DVD, as she is affectionately known around the club by team-mates and fans alike, became the first player not born in the United Kingdom or Ireland to be inducted into our 100 Club when she hit her century against Liverpool in November 2019.

The Netherlands international also scored 45 goals in that time, including hat-tricks against West Ham United in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Slavia Prague in the Women’s Champions League.

A popular figure, Danielle’s influence on and off the pitch helped us to win the Women’s Super League title in 2019, the FA Women’s Cup in 2016 and two FA WSL Continental Tyres Cups, in 2015 and 2018.

Everyone at the club would like to thank Danielle for her incredible contribution and wishes her the best for her future with Lyon.

The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
