Coyle – I’ve been waiting for that goal!

Coyle

Our 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur will live long in the memory of Trae Coyle, as he scored his first goal at under-23 level.

The England youth international converted our second of the night on the stroke of half-time, applying the finishing touch to a sweeping counter-attack from close range.

Coyle spoke to Arsenal.com after the game - and this is what he said:

on doubling our lead before half-time…

It was a great feeling. I’ve been waiting for it for a little while now so when it went in I was happy and relieved to be on the scoresheet. It was great personally but I’m glad I could help the team.

on the win against our north London rivals…

Playing Tottenham, it speaks for itself. As an Arsenal player, everyone knows you have to beat Tottenham and the performance almost comes second in a game like this as the result is the most important thing. We want to build on the performance though, I felt we didn’t play as well as we could have but it’s a massive win for us so we’re delighted.

on his targets for the season…

I’m just keeping calm, I want to focus on maintaining my place in the team and playing well. I want to keep scoring, assisting for the team because we want to win as many games and try to get as high as we can in the league table.

on playing with Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe…

Playing with Reiss and Emile is great. They’re both great players and everyone knows what they can do so when they come back and help us it’s amazing.
