There was heartbreak for Lucas Torreira on Saturday as Uruguay were knocked out on penalties by Peru in their quarter-final clash.

Our midfielder came on in the 57th minute of the game as he looked to help his side make the breakthrough as they dominated play.

Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez all had goals chalked off for offside, but could not find a way through despite having 12 shots at goal.

The match went to penalties, with Suarez missing the opening spot-kick and then every other player converting in the shoot-out.

Elsewhere, David Ospina played the entire match but suffered a similar fate to Torreira as his Colombia side were also knocked out on penalties by Chile.

Charles Aranguiz had a goal disallowed for La Roja, and a second-half effort from Arturo Vidal was also chalked off by VAR.

The match went to a shoot-out, but Ospina was unable to stop any of Chile's efforts before William Tesillo missed Colombia's final spot-kick.
