Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg in Valencia was another prolific night in front of goal for our potent strike force.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fired in his first Arsenal hat-trick while Alex Lacazette added another goal, as we set up a mouth-watering final against Chelsea on May 29.
Lacazette was asked about our road to Baku and his partnership with Aubameyang after the game. Read on for a full transcript of what he said:
WE’RE ON OUR WAY
“We are really happy and proud,” the France international said. “We knew in this stadium it was going to be hard because there is a big atmosphere – they were going to push us.
“Unfortunately, we conceded the first goal but we showed character, we showed we can control the game even if we are 1-0 down. We scored a lot of goals and that is good for us.
“We knew in the Premier League we played bad in the last month so we know it was a great opportunity to go to the Champions League but as well it is about trophies. The club needs to win the trophy, the players as well.
“Last season, we failed at the semi-finals and this season we wanted to be better.”

“We saw Chelsea were really, really happy too,” he said. “The English teams played really well on Tuesday and Wednesday and they deserve the qualification. We want to do the same.
“That means there is a great level in England. A long time before Liverpool, there were not a lot of clubs in the semi-finals and finals but we want to show there is not only Liverpool, there is also Arsenal.”
FRIENDSHIP GOALS
“Now it has been one year and a half that Auba and I have played together. I knew Auba before and we talk a lot, not only about football. When you like someone, you talk a lot and of course on the pitch it is easier.
“There is no competition, we just want to help the team. He can score 10 more goals than me, it is OK!”
