Can you answer these 10 questions on Lacazette?

Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette became our second signing of the summer when he agreed to join us this week.

The France international arrives in north London with a reputation as a prolific goalscorer - but how much do you know about him?

Find out by taking our quiz below:

Lacazette - Henry was a huge role model

When you think of some of the French strikers we have had at Arsenal - and there have been a long line - most people start with one name: Thierry Henry.

Alexandre Lacazette is no different. Our new striker grew up admiring the club’s all-time record goalscorer, and can’t wait to follow in his footsteps.

“Anelka and Wiltord were a bit before my time - I was very young when they were playing their best football,” he told Arsenal Player.

“As for Henry, I was always a fan of his so, of course, I followed his career closely.

“He was a huge role model for me. To achieve what he did at this club was exceptional.  I would like to write my own chapter here. I would love to make the fans as happy as Thierry did.”

Ozil - We're lucky to have ice-cold Lacazette

Our signing of Alexandre Lacazette has excited many - not least Mesut Ozil.

Our German playmaker has created 42 Premier League goals since his summer 2013 arrival at the club, and he can’t wait to link up with Lacazette, who scored 91 times in his last four seasons at Lyon.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Ozil told Arsenal Player. “He's a very good striker who has scored many goals in Ligue 1, not just this season but in previous seasons too. We’re really happy to have such a class striker here with us.

“From what I’ve heard, he’s meant to be very good, always hungry for goals and ice-cold when he gets into a scoring position. My friends who follow the French league know him well and have told me that I’ll definitely have fun with him on the pitch.

“I hope that he’ll be able to take us further with his goals. I’m sure he’s happy to be here and to be able to play with us, and we’re pleased to be able to assist him and help him to score as many goals as possible.”

‘Lacazette is just a goalscoring machine'

Nobody in our first-team squad knows Alexandre Lacazette better than Francis Coquelin.

Both regulars for France’s youth teams, Lacazette scored the winner as the duo won the European Under-19 Championship in 2010, and Coquelin says he will be a big goal threat in north London too.

“I’ve known him for a very long time,” the midfielder told Arsenal Player. “We played together for the youth national team so I know him very well. I’m really happy he’s come to the club. He’s a real asset and a goalscoring machine.

“He scored 37 goals in all competition last season, so he’s shown that he’s a very, very good goalscorer. I think he’s the fourth all-time leading goalscorer for Lyon, after scoring about 130 goals for the club. I’m really happy to have him in the team.

“He can do pretty much everything because he’s someone who likes to get on the ball too. He likes to run in behind the defences that’s something he’s good at and, like I said, he’s a goalscorer. Even in Europe, it’s very difficult to find someone who can score 25 or 30 goals. If he can do that, it will be very special for the club and for the team.

“I’ve never seen someone coming on and scoring so many goals. I’ve seen him come on and score a hat-trick in 20 minutes. He shows that he doesn’t joke in front of the goal, he does the business and that’s what we need.”

Walcott - The player Lacazette reminds me of

Only one player in Europe’s top five leagues had a better shot conversion rate than Alexandre Lacazette last season.

The France international scored 28 times in 30 Ligue 1 matches, averaging a goal every 86 minutes, and his style of play reminds Theo Walcott of another prolific striker in the Premier League.

“The French league is very physical league but he looks like he’s in good nick,” Walcott told Arsenal Player. “He reminds me a bit of Jermain Defoe in that he sees the target, shoots and scores.

“That’s what I’ve seen of him in little clips, so hopefully he can bring those attributes to the team. There’s loads of competition for places which is healthy as always, but we’re looking strong.

“Pace in the Premier League is the most important thing for me,” Walcott added. “It’s hard because a lot of teams drop back, sit back against us and it’s tight because there’s not a lot of space in behind.

“You have to find different ways of breaking them down but that’s why you’ve got all these clever players like Mesut to get through them differently. Pace is always a threat. When you’re counter-attacking, it wins all the time. As long as we’ve got pace in this team, we’re going to be OK.”

Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette says he is "fulfilling a dream" by joining us - and he certainly looks right at home in Arsenal colours.

The France international became our second summer signing when he agreed to join from Lyon - and he took part in a photoshoot at London Colney recently.

Our club photographer was there and sent back these exclusive images.
