Biereth wins Austrian Bundesliga with Sturm Graz

Mika Biereth’s fantastic season came to a perfect end with SK Sturm Graz winning the Austrian Bundesliga on Sunday.

Our loanee played 87 minutes as Sturm Graz won 2-0 at home to Austria Klagenfurt to win the division by two points, stopping Red Bull Salzburg’s ten-year streak.

This season, Mika scored six times and got five assists on loan at Motherwell, before scoring nine and getting four assists at Sturm Graz, where he also won the Austrian Cup.

It was also a busy week for Kieran Tierney, who was involved in three matches for Real Sociedad.

After coming on in the 70th minute of Monday’s 2-0 loss at Barcelona, he played 82 minutes of Thursday’s 1-0 win at home to Valencia and 67 minutes of Sunday’s 2-0 win away to Real Betis.

With one game to go, Sociedad will finish sixth in La Liga to qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.

In the Premier League, Sambi Lokonga’s loan spell at Luton Town came to an end with another 90 minutes under his belt during Sunday’s 4-2 defeat at home to Fulham, which confirmed the Hatters’ relegation from the top tier.

Sambi played 19 games in all competitions for Luton, scoring once and assisting three times.

Overseas, Marquinhos played 90 minutes of Fluminense’s 2-1 loss away to São Paulo on Tuesday to go fifth in the Brasileiro Serie A after the first six games.

In women’s football, Kathrine Kuhl played 85 minutes of Everton’s 4-0 win away to Bristol City on Saturday.

The Toffees finished eighth in the Barclays Women’s Super League with 23 points, Kathrine making 12 WSL appearances across the campaign.

Elsewhere, Catalin Cirjan was an unused substitute for FC Rapid Bucuresti’s 2-0 win at home to FCSB, Nuno Tavares was not included in the Nottingham Forest squad that beat Burnley 2-1, and Giovana Queiroz wasn’t in action last week but still has three games remaining with Madrid CFF in the Primera Division.
