Aubameyang - The mentality is good for the future

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's 12th Premier League goal of the season secured a point against Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

Our captain is now second only to Jamie Vardy in the race for the Golden Boot - but the 30-year-old feels there is still a lot more to come from him and the team as we head into the second half of the season.

Aubameyang spoke to the media after Thursday's game to discuss our mentality, Mikel Arteta's first few days as our head coach and much, much more.

Scroll down for a full transcript of what he said:

on the performance...

We missed a lot of chances in the second half. We should have got the three points today but that can happen. The attitude from the boys was great but we have to improve in taking our chances. The mentality was good, so that's nice for the future.

on seeing more passion and aggression...

I think so. I think everybody gave his maximum. We expect that for the next games.

on what Mikel Arteta said at half-time...

He just said to continue with the same engagement and to try to play, to respect our plan. That he just wanted us to keep working in the second half. That's it really.

on what has changed under Arteta...

He's started with the basics and we're working a lot tactically. He has great ideas, so we'll try to follow him by working hard.

on Arteta being active on the touchline...

Of course but I think it's important for us. Maybe if you're losing your mind a little bit, he's there and he gives you some advice.

on what Arteta's like as a man manager...

He's a good man. He was a player like us so there's a good feeling in the dressing room.

on whether we fulfilled Arteta's aims in the game...

Yeah I think so. Everybody was working hard. We had a good attitude and we were trying to play how he wants to play, how we want to play. We are on a good way. Hopefully we can improve. We know the next games are quite hard but we are confident.

on taking positives from the performance...

As I said, today the lads did very well. We gave everything and that's what we have to do in these games.
