Asano features in Stuttgart win

We had four players in action for their loan clubs over the weekend.

Takuma Asano, Lucas, Marc Bola and Kelechi Nwakali all appeared, while others were unused substitutes.

Asano came on in the 72nd minute as Stuttgart won 1-0 against Wolfsburg. Chadrac Akolo scored the game’s only goal.



Lucas came on in the 77th minute of Deportivo La Coruna’s 2-1 loss to Real Betis. Joaquin opened the scoring for Betis, before Federico Cartabia’s equaliser. Joaquin struck again to win the game. Joel Campbell was an unused substitute for Betis.

Emi Martinez was an unused substitute as Getafe lost 2-1 to Barcelona. Baku Shibasaki have Getafe the lead, before strikes from Denis Suarez and Paulinho turned the game in Barcelona’s favour.

Cohen Bramall and Stephy Mavididi were both unused substitutes as Birmingham City lost 3-1 at home to Preston North End. Maxime Colin gave Birmingham the lead, but goals from Daniel Johnson, Jordan Hugill and Tom Barkhuizen won the game for Preston.



Bola played the full 90 minutes as Bristol Rovers lost 3-0 at Wigan Athletic. Nick Powell opened the scoring before goals from Will Grigg and Gavin Massey secured the win for the hosts.

Nwakali was a 75th-minute substitute as VVV-Venlo drew 1-1 at Vitesse. Tim Matavz put the hosts in front after 47 minutes, before Clint Leemans’ penalty in injury time levelled things up.
