Arsenal pair win PFA community awards

Alxex Iwobi and Heather O'Reilly have been recognised for their commitment to the local community with special PFA awards.

Alex and Heather are the winners of the club's PFA Community Champion awards for the men's and women's teams respectively, for 2017.

Iwobi showed an immediate understanding for the importance of our community our work in his first full season with the first team. He joined his team mates in donating a day's wages to The Arsenal Foundation last December and supported our Arsenal for Everyone matchday against Hull City – a game dedicated to celebrating the diversity of the Arsenal family.

Alex also took time out to visit a number of community projects last term – making trips to the Arsenal Hub – home of Arsenal in the Community and our estates football programme at Elthorne Park, near Emirates Stadium.

Former United States international Heather has also helped to inspire many of the young people we work with over the past year. As well as making a number of trips to Arsenal's community hub to meet with our girls' football groups, she has played a big role in supporting girls' football teams close to our training ground in Hertfordshire.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Alex and Heather and thank them for their commitment.

Heather was presented with her award by Arsenal Ladies manager Pedro Martinez Losa
