Arsenal, together with leading design agency 20.20, won the top prize in the UK Surface Interiors category at the 11th Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

The award was won for the creation of the Dial Square premium Club Level dining experience, located in the famous Clock End at Emirates Stadium.

The new space was developed to reflect the modernisation and evolution of Arsenal and the expectations of today’s hospitality fans.

The transformation of the space was completed in eight weeks during the off-season in 2018 and provides a more social, more casual and more flexible place for fans to gather and enjoy the matchday experience.

In acknowledgement of our famous heritage, the Dial Square restaurant is named after the armaments factory where the club was founded in 1886. There are also several unique features that reflect that period including a 13ft hand-laid mosaic of the sundial from the Woolwich Arsenal armaments factory.

Since opening, the average consumption of food and beverage at Dial Square has increased by over 100 per cent and feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive.

Tom McCann, premium and venue experience director at Arsenal, said: “We wanted to create an experiential game-changer in sports hospitality, and we are delighted that our premium Dial Square development has been recognised by industry experts.

“It is important that we constantly move forward and improve the matchday experience for our fans. The new Dial Square bar certainly achieves this, offering fans a timeless space enriched by club history.”

Jon Lee, creative director at 20.20, said: “We are delighted that Dial Square has won a Restaurant Bar and Design Award and it is a testament to the whole team that’s involved in the process. The desire to push new thinking and ideas forward helps make this experience completely unique for the fans and connects them to the club and its surroundings.”

The Dial Square dining experience offers an open-flame pizza oven with pizzas made to order, as well as a gourmet chicken rotisserie. A central courtyard bar also offers a range of beers including Camden Hells and Camden Pale Ale, supplied by club partner Camden Town Brewery.

The fit-out of the new space was carried out by Portview and the project was managed by Hother Associates.
