Alex Runarsson has joined Belgian Pro League side OH Leuven on loan for the 2021/22 season.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper, who joined us last September from French side Dijon, came through the youth ranks at KR Reykjavik in his home country and moved to Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjaelland in 2014 while still a teenager.
The Iceland international made 62 appearances over his four years in Denmark and was named their player of the season in his final campaign there, before signing for Dijon, where he spent two seasons and made 45 appearances.
Alex, who made six first-team appearances for us last season, has represented his country at every age group from under-16s to under-21s, making his full international debut for Iceland in November 2017. He was a member of Iceland’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
We wish Alex the best of health and success during his time in the Belgian top division with Leuven.
The loan is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
