Ladies: Arsenal v Sunderland - Preview

Josephine Henning celebrates winning the Women's FA Cup

By Lloyd Webb

Arsenal has quickly become a home away from home for Josephine Henning.

The defender arrived at the club in February on a free transfer with three Champions League titles to her name, and following a series of stellar performances, she extended her contract in June.

Henning was instrumental in Arsenal’s record 13th Women’s FA Cup triumph in May, but says there is more to come from Pedro Martinez Losa’s side - starting with Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

"The girls have made settling in here so easy, and I appreciate that the fact I have stayed means I can look at a lot of smiling faces in the dressing room"

“My time in north London has been 100 per cent a good one so far,” she told Arsenal.com. "The FA Cup was probably the best moment so far. I want to win this league, and I want to win everything we can win. But that means we need to go step by step, and game by game. We know we have a short time to do it, because in August we have almost nothing.

“It feels really great to extend my contract, because I feel like we have so much to play for. We have the Women’s Super League and the Continental Cup to go after. We have to believe in our potential, because I don’t think we have shown what we have yet. I’m really happy to be working with the girls, and we need to show the best of us.

“The girls have made settling in here so easy, and I appreciate that the fact I have stayed means I can look at a lot of smiling faces in the dressing room. That really means a lot to me. It makes a difference when someone says: ‘I believe in this team’. I really do believe in the girls, and we have more to show.

“We need to focus now, because the games are coming so quickly and we really need to have a good combination between all the training and competitive matches, but I trust the staff on that.
