Continental Cup: Arsenal v Lincoln - Preview

By Joe Brewin

Arsenal Ladies continue their hunt for a domestic treble on Sunday when they host Lincoln in their Continental Cup Semi-Final.

Laura Harvey’s side dispatched Liverpool in comfortable fashion last weekend with a dominant 4-0 win, and the Ladies boss says she is expecting a difficult test once more at Boreham Wood FC.

“They will definitely be a tough test,” Harvey said. “Obviously the top four teams have got through to the Semi-Finals - the League doesn't lie.

“The fact that Lincoln finished fourth shows they're going to be a competitive team and a side we know we have to play well against to try and beat them.”

Arsenal Ladies had a strong record against the Imps in their victorious Women’s Super League campaign, cruising to 2-0 and 4-0 wins during the regular season.

Harvey knows they will be back for vengeance, and admits they will be trying to put right previous faults this time around.

"From what they said they weren't happy about their performance when they came to Boreham Wood last time and the score-line probably reflected that.

"I think we played quite well on that night and I think we have to try and show that type of performance again.”

Harvey’s team will be presented with their Super League trophy at half time of Saturday’s match against Swansea at Emirates Stadium, and the boss says it is an occasion they are all looking forward to.

"It's a fantastic arena and a fantastic occasion," she said.

"Hopefully all the players will take that motivation into Sunday’s game and make sure we can get that treble.

“I'm sure everyone will enjoy it and it will be a great day.”

Faye White is a doubt for Sunday’s match after her injury in the Liverpool victory last weekend, but the Ladies welcome back striker Julie Fleeting into the first team after she recovered from the injury which kept her out of the same fixture.

The Ladies will also receive their trophy after the Lincoln game at Boreham Wood on Sunday.
