Thirteen was a lucky number for Arsenal Ladies on Wednesday night at Court Place Farm as the best Ladies side in the country showed the Oxford City Ladies in no uncertain terms just why they have won so much silverware.

The game was played out on a sunny evening before a bumper crowd of over 700, and the extra pace, guile and experience of the visitors had the Oxford Ladies on the back foot from early on after Ashleigh Goddard opened the scoring from close-in after just 2 minutes.

The Oxford Ladies stuck resolutely to their tasks throughout and their 'Girl-of-the-Game', Hannah Cox, had an outstanding match in the City goal as a string of reflex saves in the second half kept a rampant Arsenal attack at bay, and the Oxford Ladies will surely take many positives from this memorable occasion into the rest of the coming league season.
