Ladies lose London County Cup Final

Metropolitan Police FC

A depleted Arsenal Ladies side squandered a two-goal lead as
Charlton retained the London FA Women's Cup on Wednesday
night.

International commitments forced both teams to field a number of
fringe players for their third Cup meeting in the space of 17 days.
After winning an epic FA Cup Semi-Final three days earlier, Vic
Akers' side lost a seven-goal thriller.

Arsenal enjoyed plenty of early pressure and broke the deadlock
after 10 minutes through Gemma Davidson. Welsh international Jayne
Ludlow, whose header took Arsenal into the FA Cup Final at
Charlton's expense, doubled the lead from 20 yards.

Charlton hit back in style. Sarah Snare reduced the deficit with
a penalty just after the half-hour mark, Gemma Ritchie's header
levelled the scores after 67 minutes and Snare fired the Addicks
ahead three minutes later.

Snare completed her hat-trick with 14 minutes left, giving
goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer no chance with another clinical finish.
Lianne Sanderson gave Arsenal hope after a defensive mix-up, but
keeper Ebony Cabey-Gooden kept the Ladies at bay.
