Karl Hein has joined Championship side Reading on loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old, who has been playing regularly for the under-23s since making his debut at that level at just 17, made his non-competitive first team debut in July in the pre-season friendly at Hibernian.
Karl, who has been training regularly with the first-team squad in recent seasons, signed a new long-term contract with us last September and has been regularly travelling with the first team on matchdays, being on the bench seven times in the past two seasons.
A full Estonian international, Karl has now made 12 appearances for his country. He made his full international debut in September 2020 in a UEFA Nations League match against Georgia. He also made a notable performance keeping a clean sheet against Wales in a 0-0 World Cup qualifier draw in Cardiff in September 2021.
Karl joined us on a scholarship contract from Estonian club Nomme United in July 2018, where he conceded just 12 goals in 20 appearances at under-17 level and also featured five times for the first team at the age of just 16. He signed professional terms with us in July 2019.
We wish Karl all the best for his forthcoming loan spell with Reading.
The loan deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
