GGG8: Adebayor v Villarreal, 2009

It's time to reveal the Gunners' Greatest 50 Goals - as voted for by Arsenal's fans.

Here's a reminder of what Emanuel Adebayor was capable of at his very best.

Arsenal were sluggish in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Villarreal in 2009, and deservedly trailed to Marcos Senna's venomous early strike. But the Gunners cranked up the pressure after the break and Adebayor grabbed a spectacular away goal with 24 minutes left.

Denilson found Cesc Fabregas in acres of space 40 yards out and he looked up to spot Adebayor's run towards the box. The Spaniard flighted a perfect pass towards the Togo striker and he applied the finish in stunning style.

Adebayor had turned to watch the ball arrive and, in one fluid movement, brought it down on his chest before arrowing a scissors kick towards the bottom corner. The striker's reaction was so sharp - and the execution of his finish so good - that goalkeeper Diego Lopez was left standing as the ball flew past him.

It turned the tide and transformed the tie. Eight days later Adebayor scored once more against the Spanish outfit - his final goal for Arsenal.
