GGG14: Cesc Fabregas v AC Milan, 2008

It's time to reveal the Gunners' Greatest 50 Goals - as voted for by Arsenal's fans.

Our countdown continues with a shot which echoed around Europe.

Cesc Fabregas was the man who fired it and his strike - alongside Emmanuel Adebayor's late clincher - inflicted Milan's first home defeat by an English club. For a while, it also convinced Arsenal fans that 2008 could be their year in Europe.

It wasn't but that doesn't detract from a fantastic goal and a fantastic performance at the San Siro. Arsenal deserved to be in front but, with six minutes remaining, this Champions League tie was in the balance with the deadlock still unbroken.

Enter Fabregas. Alex Hleb initiated the attack by dispossessing Andrea Pirlo and finding the Spaniard inside the centre circle. Fabregas strode forward and found a burst of speed to dart past Gennaro Gattuso. He was still 30 yards from goal but unleashed a low, fizzing effort which flew into the bottom corner beyond the grasp of Zeljko Kalac.

The travelling fans erupted and Fabregas slid on his knees in celebration in front of the dug-out. It was truly a moment to savour.
