Welshman Tom Walley joined Arsenal from Caernafon Town in December 1964. The first of his 14 appearances was as a substitute in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Blackpool at Highbury in January 1967.
But it could have been a different story for the winger, who underwent a neck operation at the age of 14 which kept him off the football pitch for three years.
It was his brother Tom, a former Tottenham winger, who persuaded Walley to make the move to Arsenal. The younger sibling eventually made 18 appearances in an Arsenal shirt, scoring once and earning two caps with Wales' Under-23 team.
In March 1967 he was transferred to Watford for £9,000 before going on to earn one cap for Wales. After retirement, Walley took up coaching roles with both Watford and Millwall.
