Ted Bowen

Ted Bowen could not transfer his prolific form at reserve level to Arsenal's first team.

The young striker scored 56 goals in 61 Football Combination appearances, adding another 21 in 11 friendly matches.

Bowen joined Arsenal from Wath Athletic for £500 in February 1926 but made just a solitary senior appearance against Bury in May 1927.

After failing to break into the first team he transferred to Northampton Town for £750 in February 1928, going on to achieve cult status at Sixfields.
