Stan Charlton

Ex-England Amateur international right back Stan Charlton missed just two games for Arsenal in 1956/57.

The son of the former Exeter City full back of the same name, he starred for Bromley prior to joining Leyton Orient in July 1952.

He was twice ever-present for the O's before moving to Highbury with Vic Groves in a joint £30,000 deal in October 1955.

Making 99 First Division appearances for Arsenal, he rejoined Orient in December 1958 and skippered them to the top flight in 1961/62.

He became Weymouth's player-manager in May 1965, then a district manager for a major pools company and Weymouth's secretary.
