John McAvoy moved south from Celtic to join Arsenal in October 1898 and spent just over a year at the Club.
He forced his way into George Elcoat’s side and was one of eight Scottish players in the team as the Gunners finished seventh.
McAvoy left to join Grimsby Town in December 1899, having made 26 first-team appearances for Arsenal.
