Billy Milne

Having initially spent time on trial, William ‘Billy’ Milne signed for Arsenal in September 1921.

The wing-half had to wait three months for his league debut but then established himself in the first team.

Milne made 114 league appearances and a further 10 in the FA Cup for the Club but was forced to retire in 1927 after breaking his leg against West Ham United.

He stayed in north London and became an assistant trainer after retiring, eventually becoming first-team trainer in 1947.

Milne retired from football in 1960 and lived near Highbury until he passed away in 1975.
