WHAT HAPPENED
We shared the points with Reading in a goalless draw at Adams Park, where neither side could really shift into top gear.
We began the game well, pressing Reading back to their own penalty area and very nearly took the lead when Vivianne Miedema flicked Jordan Nobbs’ free-kick delivery just wide of the post.
A few minutes later, Miedema once more had a chance to put us into an early lead, as she met Heather O’Reilly’s cross, but could only send her header into the arms of Grace Moloney.
After a quiet spell, where neither side created any chances on goal, Nobbs played through Beth Mead just before the half-hour mark, but the striker couldn’t make good of the opportunity and was beaten to the ball by Moloney following a heavy touch.
Soon after the half-time break, Miedema and Mead this time linked up, with the latter playing through the former, who was once more thwarted by Moloney.
The game quickly settled, with neither side able to create many chances on goal, as it seemed both teams knew each other all too well, having met recently in our previous fixture.
as the full-time whistle nearing, Lisa Evans whipped the ball in to Miedema, who couldn’t apply the finishing touch and agonisingly watched the ball fly past.
However, a few minutes later Brooke Chaplen had the opportunity to put the hosts in front late on, as she spun in on goal, but was saved excellently by Sari van Veenendaal.
